Test mobile blog post

As I will be blogging a lot from the phone, I figured it was prudent
to test it works. So here's a picture of my footy stubbie holder.

For those of you in Australia, here is a link to SBS Australia's free-to-air schedule of matches for the World Cup. This is a PDF document but pretty small so it downloads quickly:

Google Calendar World Cup 2010 Schedule

For those of you like me who use Google Calendar, here is a public calendar of all WC2010 matches that someone has put together.

http://blog.artesea.co.uk/2009/12/world-cup-2010-google-calendar.html

Note: this uses GMT as the timezone, if anyone knows of one of these with Sydney (GMT+9) as a timezone then please post it in the comments.

Sticker envy

Very impressed (jealous) that my co-author has already acquired a Panini sticker album and stickers whereas I have talked a lot about it but not really bothered to go out to the shop and get one yet, if in fact I ever will, or if they even sell them out here in Sydney.

My daughter would love sticking the players in as well. Come to think of it, it's her first ever World Cup. Ok that warrants a separate post...

Sydney Fan Fest in Darling Harbour

For the 2010 World Cup, Sydney is going to be one of a few "Fan Fest" locations around the world.
I expect to be watching a few games from this outdoor location on the big screen which will be floating in the middle of the harbour.
I also expect to see some drunk Brits floating in the middle of the harbour.

Socceroos scrape a win over New Zealand

I noted that the Qantas Socceroos (that's Australia to the rest of the World) scraped a 2-1 win over New Zealand last night. The quote from today's Sydney Morning Herald sums it up:

"Never will the Socceroos snatch a later, or less deserved, victory than their 2-1 defeat of a brave New Zealand at the MCG tonight. But heaven help them in South Africa if this is where they're at three weeks out from the World Cup."
